With less than a month to go before the official start of Primavera Sound 2019, the festival has already begun. For yet another year, the free programme of activities announces the start of the event, with the eight dates of Els Aperitius de Primavera Sound, the traditional Primavera als Barris and, during the week of the festival, the opening and closing days which are open to the city together with the new Living Primavera by IKEA that will take place in the recently inaugurated venue Abaixadors10.
In total there will be forty free concerts, the majority of them in Barcelona, which on the one hand will give people the chance to discover a number of new artists from the local scene and on the other will bring top international acts to the general public of the city. We are now on the final stretch, and it will go on until the last day of the festival, on Sunday 2nd June with the collective good-bye of Primavera al Raval at the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB). This is what the final sprint has in store for you:

The refreshing urban pop by the Valencia duo Fru Katinka on La Terraza del Pulitzer, will mark the end of the cycle on Saturday 18th May, which will be signed and sealed by a session by Sama Yax –a taster of what is to come in her performance at the festival.
PRIMAVERA ALS BARRIS
Once again this year, Primavera Sound will programme three double sessions of concerts in a number of community centres around the city, with the objective of bringing live music into new spaces and environments. Primavera als Barris will kick off on Thursday 2nd May in the Centre Cultural Albareda with optimistic pop by Her Little Donkey and classical rock by the very young band Overload, it will continue on Thursday 9th May in the Espai Jove Boca Nord with catchy garage by Aloha Bennets and punk rock from La Femme Brutal, and will conclude on Thursday 23rd May in the Espai Jove La Fontana with a solo concert by Manu Ferrón (singer of Grupo de Expertos Solynieve) and Bofirax’s smooth electronic music. All these concerts will be free of charge for all ages.
OPENING DAY IN THE PARC DEL FÒRUM by adidas Originals
As tradition dictates during the week of Primavera Sound, the Parc del Fòrum will welcome this new edition with an opening day on Wednesday 29th May that is open to the general public, this year in collaboration with adidas Originals. This will be headed by Big Red Machine, the expansive collaborative project by Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) and Aaron Dessner (The National), along with the post-millennial genius Cuco with his factory of bedroom-pop-inspired styles, Hatchie’s sweet wistful melodies, the Pamplona garage quartet Melenas and Mow, the experimental pop project by Madrid’s Gabriela Casero. The free day of concerts will be completed by Egosex, winners of the battle of bands Bala Perduda of Sala Apolo, and two showcases by Primavera Pro artists, on this occasion hailing from Taiwan: the hallucinogenic labyrinth by Meuko! Meuko! and melancholic R&B by L8CHING.

Primavera Sound’s free programme has a new stage this year: Living Primavera by IKEA in Abaixadors10, the venue which is the headquarters of Radio Primavera Sound, an experiential cocktail bar and an intimate nightclub.
