For over a decade now Primavera Sound has been offering consistently successful musical events. This Barcelona music promoter has, since its modest beginnings, developed a strong commitment to music so that spectators of different generations can enjoy live music to the full. This is clearly reflected in the quality and innovation of its line-ups that exude coherence, eclecticism and the love of risk-taking.

Its festival Primavera Sound, which has been taking place in Barcelona since 2001, has consolidated itself as a model reference for urban festivals and is internationally considered an unmissable event. It stands out from the rest of macro musical events and is characterised by an artistic line marked by pop, rock and the most underground tendencies of dance music. Pixies, Aphex Twin, Neil Young, Sonic Youth, Portishead, Pet Shop Boys, Pavement, Echo & The Bunnymen, Lou Reed, My Bloody Valentine, El-P, Pulp, Patti Smith, James Blake, Arcade Fire, Cat Power, Public Enemy, Grinderman, Franz Ferdinand, Television, Devo, Enrique Morente, The White Stripes, LCD Soundsystem, Tindersticks, PJ Harvey, Shellac, Dinosaur Jr., New Order, Surfin’ Bichos, Fuck Buttons, Swans, Melvins, The National, Psychic TV, Spiritualized, The Cure, Bon Iver, La Buena Vida, Death Cab For Cutie, Iggy & The Stooges, De La Soul, Marianne Faithfull and Mazzy Star are just a few of the many bands who have played on the stages of the festival through the years.

As well as its outdoor festivals, Primavera Sound has also set up other big events like Primavera Club, an indoor festival that takes place every autumn in several venues of different cities, and PrimaveraPro, an international meeting aimed at the music industry that takes place in parallel to Primavera Sound.

The company also organises tours of bands around Spain, amongst which Bonnie Prince Billy, Apparat, Explosions In The Sky, Deerhunter, of Montreal, Battles, The xx or Beach House stand out.

2012 saw the debut of Primavera Sound in the Portuguese city of Oporto, thus taking another stride in its development and expanding beyond its frontiers. Optimus Primavera Sound took place one week after its Barcelona counterpart with bands such as Suede, The Flaming Lips, Rufus Wainwright, Wilco and Yo La Tengo playing on the stages of Parque da Cidade, the festival site.
