Re: wristbands - This will be my 3rd year going. I think someone mentioned it earlier, but yes, you can pick them up at the forum earlier on Thursday (as opposed to when the festival starts, around 4 or 5 pm) if you want to wait until day of. I've always done this so that I can get my wristband and be left with time to go back to the hotel and drop off my passport. While there have been lines earlier in the day, I've never seen them outrageously long. In the past two years, I never spent more than say 20 minutes picking up my wristband.

Btw, great idea to start a thread where info can be shared, where those who have been can help out.

The queues looked very long on Thursday last year. I would get mine as early as possible.

Agree. When we picked our wristbands at 2.30 pm on Thursday there was no line whatsoever. When we arrived at the festival at 7pm the line was appr. 200 meter.

I like to get there about 4pm on Thursday and not have to queue for my wristband then go have a quiet beer and walk around the festival site before it gets busy before soaking up the last of the sun on the grassy knoll next to the Ray Ban stage - this is a favourite spot for those who know...

:D

Not a problem as long as you both turn up together.

:)

Not really likely when the festival's main sponsor is San Miguel. I don't think many festivals these days allow you to take your own drinks in do they? Not in the main arenas anyhow

On the same topic, can you bring basic food, like sandwiches/crisps?
And yes, I'm on a budget after paying for the ticket.

I would recommend taking in some plastic bottle tops, as the bar staff always take these off .This means you can put your bottle in a your bag or pocket.

I know that they usually do this so people can't chuck full bottles and I can understand this, but I have no intention of flinging anything.

Pretty sure you can take food in, but not into the Auditorium (the indoor venue)

it is really no joke that i had to throw away my twister ice cream. we were on a hurry to see the album leaf and i wasn't allowed to take it in the parc del forum... the policemen at the entrance weren't really that friendly, a discussion was senseless.. i would be suprised if you could take sandwiches in...

The locals rarely appear to go anywhere without taking a baguette wrapped in foil with them. Might be wrong though. Never bothered myself. That said the food there isn't really all that good. I tend to go for a good meal in the afternoon. A three course menu del dia should set you up for a bit and they're generally not bad value
