I had some pretty kickass beer here in Barcelona before. More expensive than the regular pittance that they charge over here but its worth it. I think San Miguel and Estrella are made for the sun. Super thin, not very flavourful. They are to cool you down and get you drunk... not for savouring so much.

Word of warning: Pickpockets are out in force on the metro. They got my very old and unsmart phone out of a pocket in my bag and unhooked the string keeping it there without my noticing. This was L1. Pretty sure the guys responsible are English tourist looking: big, white and wearing awful collar shirt. Usually got a coat or bag to hide the hands and will slowly move to crowd you maybe working in pairs on the metro. If you feel crowded move and check your stuff. Only reason I got caught out was I didn't think they'd care about an old phone like mine. An annoyance more than anything.

If anyone is stuck for the night and wants to relive their youth I have to recommend Bar Tequilla of Placa Reial aka the headphones bar. Old school metal/rock tracks and headphones to listen to it louder and sing along. So much fun.

Oh I took a photo of some people last night in Sidecar which they had no pen for me to send them it so I said I'd put it up here. Maybe it will reach the intended people (somehow I doubt it but I like to keep my word). http://www.theyatecobainsbrain.com/images/randos.jpg

La Cervesera is nice.

You can find some more artisan beers at La Cerveteca (Gòtic), Jazz (Poble Sec, near Apolo) and Homo Sibaris (Sants). Mostly international but some local as well.

Local comercial beers have their strong versions. Voll-Damm (Damm), Selecta (San Miguel) and Epidor (Moritz) are to find in most bars. Higher alcohol (around 7%) and more flavoured.

Yep, pretty close to Apolo there's Cerveceria Jazz, amazing local beers over there.

Ooops although I've had local beers in there, they're telling me Jazz is more about imported beer. So you know what to expect there.

Estrella is pretty good I reckon. San Mig on the other hand is pretty bad but fine for when its hot and you just want something cold.

Arriving tomorrow lunchtime - on site by 5pm - yessir!

:D

Any reviews or opinions from Arc de Triomf. We didn't make it down but would like to know how crazy it was for Sunday.

So many people but quite comfortable. I was 5 meters from the stage, on the left side, for Walkmen and Black Lips.
Beer at the official bars was 2€ and I was served promptly every time.
Free riders were selling Estrella cans, as usual in this type of events. They were asking for 1,5/2€ although (un)official price is 1€. I think offer will be adjusted on sunday.
Kapranos was spotted buying beer in one of the minimarkets of the side streets. Apparently, no backstage for him. :D

Sound was good, not excellent from my position.

Heat is on the run these days. We will need more than Pierce & Garnett to stop it at the Forum.

Archers of Loaf and Kleenex Girl Wonder were my favourites from Thursday. Special mention to Black Lips guitarist Cole Alexander who urinated from the top of the Red Bull bus (right on the logo) during their performance.

Ooh it is so big now. I don't know if I can take all the walking! The heat is crazy too. Hottest Primavera? Seems like it.

The bars didn't seem too bad. Busy at times and slow but I usually just went to another if things weren't happening fast and that usually worked. There seems to be an awful lot of sound bleed at the edges of stages but usually fixed by getting in the middle.

Stage of the festival so far for me is Addidas. If I am stuck that's where I go. Some great stuff there. Reignwolf, Hot Panda, who ever closed the stage.

Only major issue for me were the people who cheated on the N7 bus and got on at the stop before the terminus and then refused to get off the bus at the terminus. This almost caused a riot as the people queuing at the correct stop got shafted. I wouldn't have minded other than I thought we'd get a bus in a few minutes but in the end we waited 40 before giving in and getting a taxi. The organisers should get onto TMB and get a notice up which stop is the correct one because maybe it was an accident.

So do you all prefer the Arc to the Poble?

There wew two kinds of buses, ours and TMB ones. Looked similar as we rented TMB buses. Our service was a shuttle service to Plaça Catalunya and the ticket was 2 euros, as the regular bus but you couldn't use metro cards. We had informers and the two people working on the buses' doors explained the difference between both services and where to buy the tickets. All this information was given at the INFO desk too.

i only saw this happen on thursday.

i actually hopped on the N7 bus at the wrong stop that night (the one on Diagonal before the "terminus" you mention around the corner on Taulat) because i saw it coming and people were standing there, but i had no idea it wasn't the right one. later i figured the bus was full and that's why it didn't stop at the next stop, it also skipped Glories and a couple of other stops for some reason, which baffled everyone.

but they did fix it for friday and saturday, in fact i did miss the first bus i saw that night because i waited at the other stop again and so it went by me completely empty to go to the correct one, then i realised what must've happened the night before.

you can only blame TMB or the driver for that and not the people though, i'm sure that, just like me, most didn't know.

Thanks Maria but I knew exactly which bus was which. Yours had Primavera Sound on it and the TMB nitebus had N7 on it. That was clear. My complaint was regards the N7 bus. People got on the last stop of the route on Diagonal beside the shopping center and remained on the bus instead of clearing it at the terminus stop outside the festival. This meant people who queued at the correct stop missed the bus. I suspect it was maybe only a few people started it as a way to skip the queue and others just followed out of ignorance but there was no one to clear it up.

Yeah my complaint was written Friday morning. They actually did sort it out the next day... whether because of what I wrote here, someones elses complaint to TMB or because the drivers asked them to. TMB had two officials on the bus to sort things out Friday which was great. There were definitely people on one bus who weren't budging after it was explained they made a mistake so it wasn't entirely the drivers fault on one bus. It got very heated which was the point we gave up on getting the bus and paid quadruple for the taxi.

This was ultimately a TMB problem but I wrote this as at the time I figured the organisers could alert TMB to what was happening quicker than I could. Either way it got sorted.
