Hi, I was just wondering if anyone could clear a few things up.

This is my first time attending Primavera Sound and my first time at a festival outside the UK so I am a little confused.

I am guessing the Auditori is the main stage at the festival, i have read on here that this is an actual arena and that people have had trouble getting in to see certain acts in the past.

In terms of getting into the Auditori, i take it you need to just queue outside and its a one out - one in kinda situation like the major tents at UK festivals?

I also read somewhere about "queue jump" tickets in order to get into the Auditori.
Are these on sale in the festival site? How much do they usually cost?
Can one of these be used throughout the day or do you need one for each act you plan on seeing in the Auditori?

Does the same rules apply for the pre/post festival gigs in Poble Espanyol?

Any clarification would be much appreciated!

Cheers,

Kenny

Hi Kenny, I'll do my best to shed some light on your queries.

The Auditori is a building situated near the entrance to the festival site, it hosts a number of gigs throughout the duration of the festival, these being indoor performances. Tickets can be purchased on the afternoon of each show and this gives priority to those attending, otherwise you'll have to queue and in turn might not be guaranteed a seat. Sufjan I imagine will be packed on both days.

Entry to the gigs in the Poble Espanyol is different, you'll just have to bring your festival ticket along with you, here you'll exchange it for a wristband which you'll use to gain entry to the Parc Del Forum too.

Last year was my first Primavera so I'm sure those seasoned campaigners amongst us will maybe be able to provide more info.

Thanks mate, that clears things up a bit!

In terms of the Poble Espanyol then, is there a chance that I wont be able to get in for the pre/post festival gigs if it is at capacity?

Is there any way to make sure I get into there?

Anyone know anything more about the Poble Espanyol, like what it is like inside?
Is it outdoor or indoor?
Do the same restrictions on food and drink apply as the Auditori?
Will there be facilities inside for food etc?

1.- Getting early if you want to make sure, but don't expect loads of people.
2.- http://www.ciutatdebarcelona.com/wp-con ... celona.jpg
http://www.ayllon.info/fotos/pvista.jpg
3.- GO TO 2
4.- NO, same restrictions as in the Forum site.
5.- There are restaurants and bars that normally are open.

Heres a link you'll be interested in:

As far as food/drink inside goes I'm at a loss, last year the opening party was in a different location. I'd hazard a guess that there will be food stalls and a bar.

Nice one :D

Cheers guys!

Probably go early then and take some food and a bottle of water for the wait!
Its a bit strange that you need to have the cap off of bottles of water, I would've thought it would have been a limit restriction or that the seal should not be broken. :?

Kenny,

The auditori is not the main stage of the festival....it's an indoor theater just outside the festival site. There will probably be a total of 10-15 acts that will play the Auditori over three days.

this year at a few festivals in australia it's empty bottles or none. You can buy resealable plastic bottle caps in stores and they aren't interested in checking open bottles anyway given the number of people who they have to get through the gates so you can empty them or throw them out. There is water available inside from taps.

Although the T&Cs say you will be allowed in with bottles of water without the cap on, last year the gate security people seemed to let people in with small (500ml) bottles but not larger (e.g. 2l bottles). Np apparent reason but I decided it wasn't worth arguing. And there's nothing stopping you from putting the cap in your pocket till you're through security...

It's not a major issue though, last year water was cheap enough to buy from the bars (1 euro/500ml). And there are a few water fountains around the Parc del Forum site, if you keep your eyes peeled for them.

As for stages, the main stages are outdoors, they are named after sponsors so I guess the names may change from year to year, but basically there are two massive stages (one in a big ampitheatre and the other at the foot of a big slope, so you can get a good view...) and other smaller ones. There wasn't generally a problem getting to see anything on any of the outdoor stages last year, except maybe if you turn up to one of the major artists halfway through the set you might have to stand a long way back.
Also worth noting if you've never been that the Parc del Forum is a bit of a strange venue, it was mostly built on reclaimed land and is mostly made of concrete in various strange shapes, but basically be prepared to be standing on concrete a lot of the time i.e. wear comfy shoes (though most stages do have some form of seating available).

Thanks for all the advice folks!

I've got another question, I have read a few posts on here where people are talking about a card that you receive on entry in order to buy drinks and merch etc.

Has anyone got any more information on this? Can you not use cash on the festival site? Is this a top-up type card and how do you top up money onto it?

Any clarification would be much appreciated! :)

you can't use cash to buy drinks from the bars, in the past you needed to buy vouchers for them beforehand then go to the bar. you could pay for your drinks in cash (at a higher price) if you bought them from one of these guys who move around though, and many of the food stalls also accepted cash.

you get a wristband and a card to access and exit the festival site, the card also had other uses throughout the year like discounts for their concerts or entry to their club La [2]. this year it will also replace the vouchers, you'll be able to either put money in the card to buy drinks at the on-site stalls/machines or use the portal from your computer or phone by associating a credit card to your account. you'll also be able to buy festival merch and reservations for the auditorium gigs with the card, there will be more info available soon when registration to the portal opens.

hope that helped!

I guess the thing about the cards is a good idea (as long as the system doesn't crash or something). Though will it increase queues at the bars? One of the advantages of the paper tokens were that you just handed over the tokens, the staff ripped them up and handed you your drink. With this system it sounds like they'll have to use a till (it says you get a receipt too). Let's just hope that doesn't slow things down.
